Welcome to Unstory. Your privacy matters. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• User-Generated Content: Text you write inside the app (emotion dumps, reflections, grounding notes) is stored locally on your device only. We do not transmit this content to any server.
• Anonymous Usage Data: Aggregate session counts, feature usage frequency, and app performance metrics. This data cannot be linked to any individual user.
• Device Information: Basic technical information (device model, operating system version) used solely for bug fixes and performance improvements.
• Purchase Information: If you subscribe to Unstory Premium, in-app purchase transactions are processed by Apple's App Store. We receive only non-identifiable purchase confirmation data via RevenueCat. We do not store your payment details.
• Crash Reports: If the app crashes, an anonymous crash log may be sent to help us fix the issue. These logs do not include your personal reflections or user content.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide and maintain app functionality
• Improve app performance and fix bugs
• Verify and restore premium subscription status
• Understand anonymous usage trends to improve the product

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sell it to any third party.

3. Data Storage & Retention

Your written reflections, emotion entries, and grounding notes are stored exclusively on your device using local storage. They are never uploaded to our servers.

If you delete the app, all locally stored data is permanently removed from your device. We cannot recover this data on your behalf.

Anonymous analytics data is retained for up to 24 months in aggregated, non-identifiable form.

4. Third-Party Services

Unstory uses the following third-party services, which have their own privacy policies:

• Crash & Analytics Tools — anonymous, non-identifiable crash reporting and usage analytics. No personal data is shared.

We require all third-party service providers to maintain the same level of data protection described in this policy.

5. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. Because your reflections are stored only on-device, they benefit from your device's built-in security (encryption, passcode/biometric protection).

No method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a device passcode or biometric lock to protect sensitive personal content.

6. Children's Privacy

Unstory is not directed at children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights under applicable data protection laws (including GDPR and CCPA):

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data. Since your reflections are stored locally, you can delete them directly in the app or by uninstalling it.
• Opt-out of analytics: You may opt out of anonymous analytics collection in the app settings.
• Data portability: Request your data in a portable format.

8. Subscription & Billing

Unstory offers optional in-app purchases (Unstory Premium). Subscriptions are managed through Apple's App Store. You can cancel your subscription at any time through your device's App Store subscription settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

We do not process or store credit card information. All billing is handled by Apple.
